Real Re:Action – Equine Assisted Learning

On a sunny afternoon on Friday 14th October 2011 we took a trip to Solihull Riding Club for an open afternoon learning about Equine Assisted Learning. Real Re:Action was set up as a CIC earlier this year by two friends of Inspire Health and Mind, Louise Gillard-Owen and Tim Gunner.

Not being a particular animal person, learning about how people can therapeutically benefit from interactions with horses was fascinating. Our very own volunteer Jeanette took part in a demonstration with other visitors to see how tasks set with the horses can create reflective learning experiences which are very beneficial for all sorts of people. Real Re:action have already been working with vulnerable young people, people affected by dependency as well as groups of staff from organisations from in and around Birmingham, Solihull and Coventry.
If you or your organisation is interested you can see their website here.
We wish Louise and Tim luck with their venture and hope many more people can benefit.
